Broadway Junior Theater Celebration

Celebration Dates: April 30, 2010 (Performances) and
May 1, 2010 (Teacher Professional Development Workshops)
Grade Levels: 2-8

The Broadway Junior Theater Celebration offers an enthusiastic, educational environment for students and teachers to interact with hundreds of others who share their passion for musical theatre. Created and directed by iTheatrics, a premiere creative consultant in educational musical theatre based in New York City, in association with the leading theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) and the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Education Institute.

During the celebration, each school group will perform a selection of a musical before a distinguished panel of theatre professionals who will provide them with valuable feedback about their creativity, engagement in the performance, understanding of the material and connection to the lyrics and movement.

In addition, the groups will participate in interactive workshops for students and professional development opportunities for teachers. Most importantly, the Broadway Junior Theater Celebration will bring together people from all aspects of theatre – ranging from North Carolina students and teachers to professionals who work on Broadway – under one roof to celebrate outstanding student musical theatre productions.
